Our Services

Curriculum

We facilitate teachers in identifying the essential knowledge and skills that students should master at each grade level, and then support the implementation of a curriculum that provides a clear and coherent pathway for students to achieve those goals.

Instruction

Assessment

We provide in-depth support for a variety of assessment tools including analysis of Ohio State Tests, MAP reports, and Value-Added data. Utilizing this information in formative instructional practices will positively impact student growth and achievement.

Data Informed Decisions

We assist teachers in developing the skills and knowledge they need to implement the curriculum effectively. This may involve providing training on new instructional strategies, selection of high-quality instructional materials, methods of assessment, and/or technology tools.

What (curriculum) and how (instruction) to teach is based on data-informed decisions that are made by analyzing student data. This can be before, during, or after the teaching and learning cycle. We help teachers access student data, analyze the data, and then act on the data.

Curriculum

No matter the subject area, BCESC can assist with the what of teaching. We have subject area experts in multiple contents and partner with surrounding service centers when necessary to meet the needs of our districts.

Support with curricula begins with the standards of expectations. Our team facilitates the “unpacking” of the Ohio Learning Standards and helps teachers plan effective, differentiated lessons to engage student learners.

Instruction

There is an art and a science to teaching. Instructional strategies that have been proven effective are the foundation of the science part. Using that pedagogical knowledge to meet the needs of all students is the art.

Assessment

Whether it is the beginning or culmination of a learning cycle, the information gleaned from an assessment is a powerful indicator of a teacher's next steps. Assessment data provides a glimpse into what was learned previously, what still needs to be learned and where additional instruction can close the gaps.
